How can we fix anorexia/bulimia and the obesity epidemic? |
How can we fix anorexia/bulimia and the obesity epidemic? human beings are the only creatures on the planet that create their own health problems, we are self-destructive by nature. that being the case with more knowledge being available today along with increasing self inflicted health problems I would say it is impossible to fix. Source(s): BS Exercise Science IFPA Certified Master Trainer 25+ years of resistance training experience 17 years of martial arts training get a counselor get a nutrician and diet expert... just a thought We could help by letting woman be accepted for just who they are, not who they think they should be.........In America, unless you wear a size 2/4 your consider out of the norm... Last time I checked the norm was about a 14/16 but the pictures of these waif models don't portray us like that...Unless you're 18/25 100/110 LBS and blond you are consider unfit to be seen in public... Girls now before they even are finished growing are have Plastic Surgery hand-over-fist just so they can look like their favorite stars. Laws need to be placed on these industries to control the affect they are have on the young girls in this country... Did these girls every stop to think that the harm they are doing their bodies at such a young age, may actually be destroying their ability to bear children later in life...Fertility in women has been on a steady decline. Though the deprivation of the body may only be one reason. I think its one reason too many... They are very different questions with very different answers. The first has much to do with TV/movies/magazines/advertisin... telling kids they aren't thin enough, pretty enough, acceptable enough. The second has more to do with advertising and the idea that bigger is better!. Bigger burgers, pizzas, sodas super sizing everything etc. We have bought into the idea so much that even small children and teens (who used to be the tiniest groups) are now chunky and plump if not fat. The only thing they have in common is the media who is selling us all a load of crap! |
