Why doesn't Massachusetts (MassHealth) care about helping those with obesity problems? |
I've read online that MassHealth doesn't cover any obesity-related program, prescription, etc. Why is that? Obesity can lead to heart problems...... high blood pressure...... high cholesterol..... diabeties, etc. What is wrong with Massachusetts? My mother has a thyroid problem that contributes a lot to her obesity (she ways 420lbs) and has been advised to seek assistance through her MassHealth insurance. Yet, MassHealth declined her request for obesity-related prescription. How can she work towards solving her problem if her insurance doesn't help her out!?!?!? MassHealth will allow tobacco ceastion services, but not obesity-related services? WTH!?!?!?!? (Yes I'm venting because I'm upset and can't anywhere with the MassHealth people!!) ***eeeerrrr* I agree with your problems but i don't think that mass health should help just any person with obesity. In your mothers case it is her thyroids fault not her own so they should help her, but people who are obese on their own account should have to fend for themselves Seems pretty stupid to me. If she had a drinking problem, they would help her! I'm fat too, and have tried to get help for years. Ironic, but my current health plan (Anthem/Blue Cross) in Va. will cover gastric bypass surgery (not sure about prescriptions--although pretty sure they won't cover diet pills), but won't cover smoking cessation. Go figure. because overall it was not designed to care about anyone they have cute little commercials about how it's a good idea the fact is, it's horrible if they want to help then just give it to the people it's healthcare, it's not air conditioning but in the end the poor will just end up paying fines and taxes for not having it because they can't afford it it's completely insane end of story the education system is sickening too they sugar coat all these cute ideas but everything remains at reach so, don't let them cry about lack of education and healthcare when they do zero to help, and build more obstruction Work Consume March to your doom hi check this link its good http://insurancess.notlong.com . |
