Why is there more focus on Anorexia than there is on Obesity?

Or I guess the better question is, Why is there a more negative stigma regarding Anorexia and bulimia than there is regarding obesity?
I often see things in the media telling women to be proud of their pudgy bodies, but often wonder why. I understand there are some reasons for having some extra baggage, ie having children, but since more people die of obesity or being over weight (than those who die of starving themselves) shouldn't it be the one to have the negative stigma?

Maybe it is because Anorexia and bulimia are considered an illness that they get the more negative stigma and more attention is associated with their issue.

Because there are more fat people, and people would rather point the finger at others than at themselves.
Thank you! STarring this question! I wish there would be more focus on obesity as it's the most reason for deaths opposed to anorexia!

Watch "supersize me"
Where have you been. I have been hearing about "fat" people since I was a child.
Obesity does have a negative stigma ?? ... But I think that anorexia is more frowned upon becuase it's a mental illness while obesity isn't considered that at this time.
I see both eating disorders getting equal scrutiny
i think both should be considered a problem and dealt with=in Canada we are starting to look at obesity in our kids and getting them on diets
I disagree. Anorexia is seen as an illness, and having an illness garners more sympathy because it's seen as a mental health issue that a person has little control over. Obesity is seen as a person being lazy and irresponsible with their body. There is much more negativity and riducle towards obese people compared to anorexic people.
