Should towns in the US be given federal grants to combat obesity in minority women? |
That is what my local paper said this morning, that my town has just received a 98,000 dollar grant to combat obesity in minority women. That's great and all but first of all, why is it just for women? Do we not have obese men in this country, too? And why is it for minority women? I think if the grant was just for white women many people would be up in arms about it. What do you think? Once again, multiculturalism at it's worst. Do "mixed race" women only have to lose half the weight, or even more frightening, only from one side? i think i will give up trying to understand government anymore, this latest policy will only provoke resentment and fail to promote the integration within the races that we all need. or is the government trying to say that it is only women who should go on a diet? simple. political correctness. At the very least that is insulting to minority women, since it suggests that they have sooooo much less brain capacity than anybody else making up that community, they need special help i n the way that you would extend to people of impaired mental abilities. I don't think they are any more mentally impaired than anyone else. I think too many special minority designations are just so used to being carried in the waggon, they don't want to be forced to get out, go round the front of the waggon and start helping to pull it for a change. That's almost funny. All I hear from minority's is they want to become the majority. Why bother being among the majority, they'd loose all the perks. I have known obese people, men and women, it takes more than money to combat obesity. Aren't there some wealthy people who are obese? It takes SELF CONTROL, eating the right foods and exercise. When they speak of minorities, which nationality are they referring to? My guess is it's Hispanic, there's no one fighting for the rest of us to have a better life. Since Hispanics are now a majority among the minorities, if it's for them, this is racism and discrimination at it's finest. It is because research has shown that minority women, are more likely to be obese than white women. So why should they not be given a helping hand in losing weight? Stop being so racist. |
