Is it possible for someone to suffer from both anorexia and obesity in their life time? |
i know it's impossible to suffer from both at the same time. but has there been people who suffer from obesity at a young age and the other at a older age? In fact, anorexics can be obese while they are sick with the disease. It has to do with body fat and lack of muscle, and the biochemical explanation is long and boring, but yes. I'm not a doctor, but it does sound reasonable to me. Yes certainly they are all eating disorders so if someone has hang-ups with food they could have both of them within their lifetime. im sure its possible. im sure its possible to be anorexic and obese at the same time... think... starving yourself causes your metabolism to slow down so when you take a bite of anything itll make you gain weihgt... so if an obese person with a slow metabolism decides to starve themselves theyll be anorexic and obese and the starvation probably won't work bc of their already slow metabolism. but anorexia is a desease not just being skinny. so a 150 pound person can be anorexic... simply by self starvation jsut not as offen that it will cause them to be 80 pounds. about the thing a person can be obese at a young age and then find anorexia as a cure at an older age thats possible for sure. Medically speaking, all "anorexia" means is "unable/unwilling to eat." So a lot of older people in nursing homes, etc. have anorexia. It's also listed as a side effect of some drugs--e.g. "causes anorexia" means "makes you lose your appetite." That said, even if you're talking about anorexia nervosa the mental/eating disorder, it's possible. Sure! At one time I was anorexic. Looked like a skeleton... now about 20 years later I wish I could lose about 30 lbs. I'm sure. |
