Patients who have had gastric bi pass and stomach stapling surgery for obesity.? |
I want to know from surgons, patients, health foods expert/professional nutritionists only.... What can a person who has had gastric bi pass and stomach stapling do if they want to go vegetarain, or mostly ? I know that beans, and soy can be constipating, they are also the highest in proteins and when mixed with, rice, corn, other whole grains become compleat proteins. Solution? I do and can drink milk, eggs, like that. This was Never talked about when I had went to my pre- op, and post op. meetings. What about vegetables, and fruits? I had this surgery done,1993, the "rules" have changed a little. I never knew calcium and protiens are poorly absorbed. What can I do to add this, and absorb the nutriants? I know I need iron, and this dose not absorb through food any more. What can I use over the counter ? My pouch, It has streched, not fully, but more then it was,I was Told this Would, or could not happen.. Besides more surgery, what can I do to shrink it again ? Help. I did not personally have this done, but my sister and my aunt did, so I can answer part of your question. The last part. My aunt had several additional surgeries to correct stomach problems, some of them many years after the original surgery, but not my sister. She is able to eat more now than she could at first, due to her stomach pouch stretching, but is still limited to some degree. She has gained back a lot of the weight, but has started doing the Weight Watchers program and is having success with it. You could also see a nutritionist for more information on what to eat. As far as your pouch stretching, the walls of the stomach do that normally. If you put more food in it than it should have, it stretches. If you do this on a consistent basis, it doesn't shrink back. To make it shrink back, you have to consistently eat less than it will hold. If it's current size is not being filled, it will gradually return to it's previous size. The trick is to not eat until you feel full, but only eat until you no longer feel hungry. Gastric Bypass Surgery /gastrectomy/stomach stapling /lapband (all types of bariatric surgery) is very safe nowadays. It is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges obesity surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as obesity surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your obesity surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star. My cousin got her revision surgery for gastric bypass in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She has lost 65lbs in 5 months. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company.hope this helps http://www.forerunnershealthcare.com... |
