Why do "most Americans" despise "Big Brother" government, but want laws to reduce obesity? |
People tend not to like the government watching over them, but apparently the majority of Americans favor laws that reduce obesity and heart disease -- banning trans fats, etc. Isn't this a double standard? Actually, most Americans I know think these laws are a crock of crap. People don't go to fast food restaurants to diet. These people who keep getting these laws introduced and passed are annoying as hell to the majority that wishes they would stay the hell out of our lives. I'm all for passing a law demanding that everyone be responsible for their own ***, and make their own health decisions. These corporations that allow themselves to be bullied into acquiesence to the annoying minority are simply feeding the lastest politically correct frenzy. Complete and total nonsense. Like eating a Big Mac with transfat free fries will make a freaking difference! messed up, ain't it? You are right in a sense, but I think America is so lazy and they feel like "well if there is a law against it, I don't need to do anything and I'll still lose weight" What's next? A you must exercise law? People don't need laws, they need willpower. Perhaps, but the public has a hard time being able to have a choice to not eat trans fat when going to restaurants. People probably do not want to have to study the ingredients when they are going out to enjoy themselves, too. We are a confused people, getting farther and farther away from Christ every day. The big problem is the growing atheistic leadership in this country---people who pose as Christians, but do not know a thing about Jesus---like the President. I don't like the idea of big brother and I hate the idea of banning trans fat and smoking- Jeeze let people make choices!! Yes, it is a double standard. A lot of people expect gov't babysitting. They've already tried to make smoking illegal in bars. They need to realize that freedom comes at a cost. You can't make everyone happy. But by making things like talking and smoking illegal it's unfair to the people who enjoy those things. Don't like smoking/smokers? Stay away from them. Don't want trans fat in your food? Don't buy food with fat in it. Next we'll have a black market of fatty foods. Watch out for those hamburgers, they're like crack. |
