Obesity 'a child protection issue'?

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/pressass/200706...

I do think it's a child protection issue because children, being both dependents and usually lacking in knowledge about nutrition, really don't have much say in what they can eat at home. I don't think the blame should be laid wholly at the feet of the parents, though. Pocket money, school canteens, advertising, and peer pressure have major roles in causing child obesity too.
I think it is abuse if you let your child get obese
Its neglect and cruelty. If your child is fat than it is your fault as you are the adult and protector of that child. It makes me laugh when some parents over look their child as being fat, they always say, it's puppy fat, he/she is big boned. YOUR child is fat because YOU made your child fat.
i suppose i can see how it can be abuse but my gran is the best woman in the world and shes always trying to fatten me up with ckaes etc always worried if im hungry and i think thats her way of showing love...im undecided about it all
I consider it to be abuse, yes. How can anyone let their children get into that kind of a state..
They should be punished for not giving their children a healthy diet and no exercise and not taking them to the doctors..
It is a problem that could kill the children off a lot earlier than what they should die..
