Is Obesity really becoming that big of a problem?

Ive been watching talk shows Maury, Montel, ect. and alot of their topics are about overweight/obese kids & teens. I dont see that many obese people, but people are making it seem like everyone is.

It is a major problem. When I was a kid, it was rare to see an obese child because back then kids actually went outside and were active. There are now kids in their teens that cant do 1 pushup, pull up, run at least 1 lap around a track. Childhood diabetes didnt exist in my teen years as well.

Obesity is a personal problem not a societal one. People choose not to diet and exercise.
It's population control. Unhealthy people will die young. Babies are born everyday and people die everyday. I don't understand why after all this time we can't grasp that concept. If people want to smoke cigarettes and eat more than they should or drink alcohol, oh well. They are doing their part to keep the world from getting over populated.

It's the cycle of life. It is not going to change so get used to it.
This nation is far behind othr countries as far as children who are healthy and in shape, dio mostly to fast food and junk food ect ect etc. Obesity is a problem for a lot of people in this country for than should be. with all the health strategies and new age medicine and food are organic there really is no reason for anyone in this country to be obese unless medicaly there is something wrong with them such as a thyroid problem, Yes we asre the fattest country in the WORLD
Obesity has always been around, its just that now days the media has to make a big deal out of it.
They have nothing better to talk about but other peoples problems.

Anyway if more people were obese there would probably be less rape and that sort of thing.
