Obesity...is it really abuse? |
I don't understand what society is coming too. So they are now saying that obesity should be classed as abuse within the family so therefore social services should become involved and maybe place that child into another home. Hang on a minute...that child could have the most loving parents. What about children whom go on diets and are really skinny due to weight issues surely that too would be classed as malnutrition abuse if being over weight is classed as obesity abuse? That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I was an anorexic teen, should my parents have been put in jail due to my disorder/ Would that really help a child. Over eating is a disorder no different than anorexia. What about my 5 year old daughter, she is not obese but she is over weight due to the medications and fluid retention caused by a kidney disorder. Are they going to start stepping in on everything that can be prevented? Teen pregnancy, drug addiction, alcohol abuse, teen violence, gangs, theft, vandalism, these things could be prevented also. Do we start taking children away from their parents over ever preventable problem? Why not just offer free counseling and tools to assist families in need instead of destroying families. i think it is, a parent can control what there kids eat and if they are really obese then it is cruel to put your child through health problems they need not have its is abuse. they should be put down. It offends my eyes. they take up too much space on the bus and are disgusting. parents found to have genetic predisposition should be sterilised The solution could be cooking and nutrition lessons. If a child was starved to near death wouldn't you say that was abuse? feeding children the wrong stuff is clearly not ideal and doing so on a continuous basis is malicious. the solution would be help to the families one way or the other. Yes it is technically abuse. You can be charged with Cruelty to an Animal if you overfeed it A parent that loves and cares for their child will understand the importance of laying good foundations during childhood. Would you support a parent who gave their children heroine? No, of course you wouldn't. Well feeding your children rubbish food with no nutritional content will harm them just as much. And just for clarity, people who are obese as a result of a diet of refined carbohydrates are likely to be suffering from micro malnutrition. In my opinion, and it is just an opinion, gross obesity in children is the responsibility of the parent. If a child was starving that would be considered abuse so feeding children to ill health and death is also abuse. |
