Why is obesity such a BIG problem in the USA? |
Why is obesity such a BIG problem in the USA? too much food remember, research has shown than super sizing at mcdonalds increased the weight of americans. i think its 2 out of 3 adults are overweight and 2 out of 4 teenagers. they are starting to give super sizing a different name now like triple big mac, triple cheese burger, angus burger, have you seen the size of that thing. its like whoa. i tried taking on a triple cheese burger, i only finished a quarter. well I believe America is the only country where people go hunting on a full stomach, which is outragous. Also I blame fast food, and preservatives, and te person that eats it, and doesnt care about their appearance. sorry to over simplify but too much eating and not enough walking. americans spend too much time watching tv or online and don't exercise enough. they do not eat healthily at home and they eat too much fast food. I think that in any very industrialized country there is such a problem. It may be due to the pressing rhytms of life as well as bad food. Abuse of hamburgers for examples... Many Americans eat a lot of fast food and processed foods. Most of them are full of fillers like starch and High Fructose Corn Syrup because they bulk up the product very cheaply. HFCS is pure, empty calories and you will find it in just about everything. Also, most Americans have a very sedentary lifestyle since the advent of the computer, DVD and Nintendo. Kids don't ride bikes, jump rope and play ring games anymore...they sit in front of the flickering screen and munch on junk food. Their parents too sit more at work than they used to and get less exercise. I think this is not just a US problem, from what I've seen in Britain and Europe it is worldwide. Materialism and the breakdown of the family structure also makes people seek comfort in food...they try to fill the heart by filling the mouth. |
