Eye infection or allergies? |
I cant tell if i have pink eye, a eye infection or allergies. I was using just the cheapo contact lens solution. Have been using it for years. My eye doctor told me to get rid of it and use the more expensive Alcor. Well.. since I started using that i have been having problems. Especially when i put my contact lenses in. This has even persisted with new lenses, a new bottle of my old solution, makeup , contact case etc. I also have just started having seasonal allergies. So.. is it allergies or an infection? If I put contacts in my eyes are agitated and get nasty eye boogers. Its better when I take the contacts out. However.. they are not really red.. once in a while if i have contacts in they feel like they are burning. If i use Similison.. it seems to keep the nasty boogers away.. but doesnt get rid of them. Infection .. or allergies??? If your eyes get better without using your contacts, the contact lens solution is defintely suspect. Is this solution one of those 'all-in-one' solutions? I used to get chronic red eye issues and I also have allergies. The things I did to resolve it were: - Switched to disposable contacts (change every two weeks...I remove them for soaking every night.) This resolved a problem I had with the protein buildup...I had a horrible time with those enzyme cleaners. - Switched to a contact lens that 'breathed' better...B&L Oasys. - Switch to Opti-free Replenish - Better air filtration within the home (change furnace filter more often.) If I could, I would also buy a HEPA filter. - Better air filtration in the car - Switched common household cleaners with more non-toxic and eco-friendly cleaners. - Started taking local honey to build up resistance to local pollens. - Stopped taking things like Claritin; using Flonase until I have immunities established. We were also told to stop using the generics lens solutions (Costco Kirkland, Target or Walmart) because the ingredients are not consistent over time. We were recommended to try Opti-free Replenish. Yeah, it's more expensive, but we haven't had a problem. Source(s): Local Honey: http://www.pioneerthinking.com/to_honey.... Sounds like allergies you were probably allergic to the new solution. But if you didnt see about your eyes right away it probably led to infection. Go see a doctor your eyes are worth it. I also have allergies and my eyes get really red and itchy what you can do is use some refresh tears and you will be on your way to happiness. |
