My left eye real red and I went to Dr and said it was allergies but the drops not working.? Drops will help but may not be immediate. I find putting something cool, an icepack wrapped in a dish towel, over the closed eye increases blood flow to the eye and gets the red out faster. call your doctor and tell him, he probably put you on something else A cold wash cloth or compress. It'll help a little, or at least make it feel a little better. contact a Dr. who specializes in Allergies it could be pink eye, which is also known as conjunctivitis. if someone threw something at you and it hit your eye, then it could also be that you scratched your cornea. i hope you find out what it is and your eye gets better! Sometimes the drops might take a few days to work. Try taking an over the counter allergy medicine like claritin or something similar and/or see if the doctor will prescribe an allergy pill too as they might help your eyes. I know for me I take Allegra-D pill [prescription] and Patanol for my eyes and for the most part my allergies are under control. Drops usually don't work for me either, they only seem to relieve a little bit of the dryness temporarily. The only way to relieve allergy symptoms is to take a prescription. I wouldn't recommend over the counter stuff like Benadryl since is can make you REALLY sleepy (like almost pass out sleepy). I recommend taking Allegra. It's really great and works well for my seasonal allergies. I take the 12 hour kind since my allergies are usually in the mornings. Depending on what kind of allergies you have you could take the 12 hour or 24 hour. Or he/she may prescribe another brand. Ask your dr to prescribe it. |
