I put allergy eye drops in my eye after it had been hurting/now my pupil is dialated? does this sound normal? |
After waking up from a nap my eye was sore and red on the eye lid I then used allergy eye drops. Now my vision is blurry at times and my pupil is dialated. Does this sound normal or possibly a problem i should check out with a dr.? what does the box say? u shold hurry go and check the DOCTOR! doesnt sound normal but perhaps the eye was irritated before the eye drops, usually alegry drops do sting at first cause they are treating the symptoms, not srue about the dialated part maybe check the eye drop site Never take chances with the eyeball and your vision. the likelihood is that the allergy med. contained something that dilated the pupil and the dilation is causing blurred vision. But don't take a chance, grab up the drops and take them with you to the ER just to be safe. They can reassure you and cleanse the eye if necessary. THIS IS NOT A SUBSITITUTE FOR MEDICAL ADVICE, however, if it is an over the counter drop it probably has not only an antishistamine, but a vasoconstrictor. The vasoconstrictor (similar to visine) is probably acting as a sympathomimetic, or an agent simulating epinephrine, which is a pupil dilator. The same effect can be seen with visine. If you have no other neurological signs (double vision, numbness, weakness, etc) then your dilated pupil is most likely related to the drops. It should wear off in a few hours. If you have a severe headache, go to the ER!!! I am an ophthalmologist (medical doctor/eye surgeon) |
