If you are not with a monogamous partner or both of you haven't been tested for stds, then yes oral sex can affect your health. You can pick up most std's from oral sex (either getting or giving it). Basically the rule is: If you wouldn't have unprotected sex with the person, Don't have unprotected oral sex with them either.

If you are in a relationship, take yourself and your partner to a clinic and get tested for stds. If you are both clear and you trust your partner to be faithful, you're good to have all the oral sex you want.

If you don't completely trust your partner, they refuse testing, or they do have an infection that can't be cured you will need to use a barrier method for oral sex (both giving and receiving).

If you are a man, always wear a condom with a partner you're not sure of. If you are female have a partner use a dental dam (a square of latex) or snip open a condom so it lays flat to form a barrier. With dental dams, make sure the dam does not get flipped over and allow the giver's side to come into contact with your genitals.

These aren't the tastiest of options, but it will protect your health and possibly your life. If you are performing on a partner, use the appropriate barrier for them. If they don't like it, then they don't get oral sex. Period.

I would suggest avoiding any kind of sex with anyone to whom you are not commited and has not been tested. Std's are common and becomming even more so. Getting tested is not a big deal and can put everyone's mind at ease. If you're going to perform sexual acts with untested partners, protect both yourself and them by insisting on barriers for intercourse and oral sex.

maybe...

it can affect your health if the person your pleasing has diseases, otherwise it's harmless. there is no way to suggest ways, just do it and figure out what works for the other person.

You can catch practically any STD through oral sex. Hopefully you know your partner well enough to perform healthy and/or safe sexual activities.

But beware, a moment of pleasure can cause a lifetime of pain. No one wants to have cold sores and blister breakouts for the rest of their natural lives.
