How can general health affect oral health? |
How can general health affect oral health? To reverse the question, my mother had heart bypass surgery last year, and was told that oral hygiene was vital during recovery as infections from teeth / mouth could jeopardise her recovery. So it just shows how clean teeth / mouth are, I guess. *Dashes off to brush teeth* lol yes it can, whats up with you? you said 'oral' huh huh huh huh That was cool. too numerous to mention but also oral health can have adverse effects on your general health If you lose the use of your arms it's a booger trying to clean your teeth Yeah- malnutrition can make one lose their teeth... Well your oral cavity(mouth) is a part of your body...Therefore as general health affects other parts or organs of your body it also in numerous ways affects your oral health... For example,if a person is DIABETIC,apart from its effect on other parts of human body it has effects on oral cavity also.It causes your gums(gingiva) to be infection prone resulting in more chances of having GINGIVITIS(Inflamation of gums).etc. Similarly, if a person is ANEMIC(low blood cells count),then,it will have severe effects on your oral mucosa. It will become weak and more vulnerable to diseases. there are many other conditions such as diseases related to PARATHYROID GLANDS.etc.which have effect on oral cavity... In shory your oral health is as much important and as much linked to your general health as other parts of your body... |
