I have another clinical scenario (and if you must know, yes it is a homework assignment, which im having real difficulty answering, i just figured that if a post this question there will be some experienced moms out there who know what they are talikng about) Here goes.... Shana is 12 months old and has been growing at the 50th percentile for weight and at the 25th percentile for length since early infancy. She consumes formula from a bottle (240z of Enfamil with iron), table and finger foods (e.g. crackers, toast fingers, cooked carrot sticks, cooked green beans, cheese cubes, mashed potatoes, applesauce and canned pears, and 12 to 14oz apple juice each day. Shana's mother is wondering if Shana is drinking enough formula each day. If you could help me out, it would be much appreciated. thanks
If she is 12 mo. old then she needs to wing off of formula. If you leave a child on it it can create iron def.and i know what your gonna for. has iron in it but when you mix it with milk it does not absorb well. That is what happened to my little girl. She needs some meat in her meals, like Gerber meat sticks or finger meats that come w/ veggies to. and she can do it her self.never leave a child alone while eating.anyway,1 cup of juice a day is enough because you don`t want her to drink all of her calories up she won`t be hungry for nutrient rich foods.well that`s about it.

Have 2 small children At 12 mon, she should be off formula, on the whole cows milk. and, like the other mom said, meat is very import. also, cheese. the mom should focus on naturally occuring yummy fats. good luck, also there are a million nurition websites, just try lots of search engines and type in things like, " how much formula/milk daily, 12 mons."
