How would u evaluate the foods offered to Shana in terms of her motor development? her oral health?her growth\ |
I have another clinical scenario (and if you must know, yes it is a homework assignment, which im having real difficulty answering, i just figured that if a post this question there will be some experienced moms out there who know what they are talikng about) Here goes.... Shana is 12 months old and has been growing at the 50th percentile for weight and at the 25th percentile for length since early infancy. She consumes formula from a bottle (240z of Enfamil with iron), table and finger foods (e.g. crackers, toast fingers, cooked carrot sticks, cooked green beans, cheese cubes, mashed potatoes, applesauce and canned pears, and 12 to 14oz apple juice each day. Shana's mother is wondering if Shana is drinking enough formula each day. If you could help me out, it would be much appreciated. thanks Personally I think that if she is 12 months old you should start by giving her whole milk (but that's up to you and your Dr.) I think that she could drink between 18-20 onz/day, you can also give her cheese, yogurt. I personally don't agree on giving a kid juice because they have too much sugar and I rather give them fresh fruit like apple, banana, pears, grapes cut in little pieces or in baby food if she doesn't have many teeth. She is growing fine, probably a little short on the length but it's ok as long as he continues in the same path and doesn't drop in her % Its a few years now since my kids drank any formula. If you do not receive any other answers try mine. She should be on the 'follow on' or 'step up' milk (i think thats what they are called. For amounts check on the back of the tins in the supermarket/chemist. |
