Can osteoarthritis from the mother affect her infant?

I am breast feeding, I'm not sure about having osteoarthritis, but it runs in the family, and I started to have pain in my hands, so I wonder if that illness can affect brast milk.

Only in the sense that your breastmilk will lessen your child's chances of developing it... even when your son/daughter is old and grey themselves!!

It should not affect the nutritional value, or calorie count, or anything like that.

Now you may want to check here on this list for safe medications to take, if you're taking Ridaura, Myochrysine, or Solganal - they're all listed at an L5, which is the most dangerous class of meds you can take while breastfeeding... ask for something else if you're on one of those.

I've never heard of it having any negative effect on milk supply or the baby's health. I have osteoarthritis in my neck and nursed my daughter for several years.
