Is it Osteoarthritis? Solution? |
Since last few years I am feeling nasty stuffiness in my joints. These days I cant even sit on my feet due to stiffness in my knees, they hurt me a lot when I try to sit. I also feel weakness in all my bones and joints. I have consulted with many orthopedics, some are saying that this is polyarthritis some are saying that this is osteoporosis, and last one declared that my joints are in degeneration process. All of them gave me paint killers and one suggested me to take Vioxx which I took for 3 months. I鈥檓 29, married male. Is there any solution to this problem? #1 If you took Vioxx, you'll probably want to do some research on it because many people have had severe side effects and it has been removed from the RX market. # 2 Osteoporosis can be detected by having a bone density test. Have you been to a rheumatologist? They are the specialists that give you the most help. I've had osteoarthritis for over 20 years and the whole process is degeneration of the major weight bearing joints and all of the sub categories of associated diseases. Don't give up on yourself, you'll need to eat well, and exercise to strengthen your muscular core and the muscles supporting your joints and spine. You may need to increase your calcium intake either with food or a supplement. There are allot of medications that can relieve some of the inflammation, but you need a good diagnosis by a professional first. Good luck to you. Source(s): my own experience with OA and www.About.com maybe go see a pain specialist...i can sympthize with all your troubles..i think what you need to do is collect any xray reports you might have as well as progress notes from the rheumy docs...then like i said go see a pain specialist or another rheumy...when i go to see docs i take my notes with me and give it to them.. this is not the solution now days we have lot of new medicine for oestoarthritis i heard of one which is costing you 10000 -15000 Rupees in indian curency which will surely give you relief for 6-7 years ,don't take too many pain killers that can harm you more than osteoarthritis, there so many alternative for the temporary pain relief. I have osteoarthritis. Have had significant pain as result for the past 10yrs. I take Celebrex, & Ultram. I have been taking the Ultram for 10yrs. I took Bextra before it was removed from the market, & I wish they'd bring it back. That drug worked better than anything I have taken thus far. Having said that, you need to be under the care of either an orthopedist or a physician that specializes in pain management. Osteoarthritis does not go away on it's own, it is a progressive illness, & the best that you can do, is try to manage it the best that you can. Not all treatments work the same for all people. You will need to "play" around with different medications until you hit upon one that works best for you. Good luck |
