I have osteoarthritis. Are there any home remedies that can help? |
I'm a little afraid to take some of the OTC. meds. for the pain and swelling. I can't do the things I used to do so easily and frankly, I'm getting tired of it. Home remedies sometimes help more than anything else. Anyone? most home remedies are useless, first try to lose weight. then take anti inflamitories which your doctor will perscribe. Mobic is the one i take, and take something simple along with it like advil or if your stomach is strong you can try alieve. use lots of ben gay on your joints, and keep up as much exercise as you can stand because if you sit still it will hasten crippling. I have heard that gin and grape juice help a lot. Not a joke, look it up on the internet. I take glucosamine every day and that helps my knees more than anything. Also, Certo, which is used for making jelly and jams. Good luck My mom, has that too, she has tried every thing without good results,, she is now on a shot called FORTIO,, seems to be helping, she takes one every day,, check with your doctor, also osteocal vitamins. If you would have given your age and business it would have been easy to answer. You should avoid allopathic medicines. They are called pain killers but actually kill the patient. Due to painkillers you keep your movements on and worsen your knee joint because of your body weight directly coming on knees. Sleep on your back and do cycling exercise as much time and frequency that you can bear. You should minimise your weight up to 125 lbs. For that you should be prepared for months' waterfast too. As you have intimated swelling it has become a worst chronic problem. Please see if heating pads or brick or pouch of salt or sand heating and applying helps you. If not then you should be prepared to replace the joints if you can afford or die in meditation and not the suicide.
