Osteoarthritis, running, and healing?

Last year, I had my knee arthroscopically cleaned and they found I had pretty severe osteoarthritis (some areas of bone through the cartilage). I used to run a tiny bit (6 miles a week at most) and do martial arts.

Now it's been a year and I can't do more than bike and some weights. maybe a bit of elliptical.

Is there anyone out there who was ever able to run after being diagnosed with osteoarthritis?

How about the POSE method of running?

I really want to do triathlon sprints, and I'm having an insanely hard time admitting I may never do my favorite exercise again....

I take gelatin supplements and fish oil daily.

I'd love to hear some good news.

Ask your doctor if you are a candidate for synvisc. www.synvisc.com
With the injections you may be able to do some mild running. I would still recommend the low impact sports that you have been doing instead of running. Try rollerblading...it is low impact, but makes you feel like you are doing a bit more exercise than walking or biking. Source(s): I work in medical research and helped develop this product.
