I have spodolitis cervical and lumber plus osteoarthritis?

my physio has been put on hold due to suspected nerve damage in neck, can anyone tell me why when i excersie my neck do i get pain down my legs ?

The nerves that run through our leg have to get to your brain. So they run through your spinal cord, which passes through holes in your vertebra, all the way up to your head. When you exercise your neck, you shrink the hole that your spinal cord runs through, compressing those nerves, which your brain interprets as pain in your legs. So, it's actually not pain in your leg, its pain in your neck that is misinterpreted by your brain.
im not a doctor but it seems that it could be spinal. i think this is because your spine joins to your pelvis and your neck.

Hello,

The answer is that the spinal cord & major nerves pass through the centre of the spinal bones (the veterbra) from the brain stem including the neck, down the spinal column to the lumbar veterbra & finally the sacrum. So if you exercise then its quite possible to trap a nerve that passes into the legs, or to inflame the nerves hence the pain.

**The common term for trapped nerves into the legs is Siatica, its caused by a trapping or pinching of the siatic nerve. These are the nerves that pass down the legs.

the pain down your leg is sciatica I have had it for a number of years Done phisio Hydro pool excersie And lots of medication but still in pain .Just keep active .
Let me get this correct - when you do movement and exercises with you neck you get pain in your legs? This is pretty serious! There is most likely compression of your spinal cord in your neck that is severe enough that depending on position and activity causes enough compression to affect your lower body. Are you have any effects of your bowel or bladder? Numbness, tingling or loss of muscle control in your lower body? Was your Physiotherapist aware of this when you were seeing them. You need to make your doctor and physio aware of this ASAP!!!!
I am a PT (Physical Therapist) or physiotherapist depending on what country you live in.
