What is osteopathic medicine?

I find a lot of people don't actually know, so ten points to whoever gives me the best answer.

Ill keep it short. I went to a medical school that taught Allopathic Medicine. Those medical schools award a MD (Medical Doctor) degree. My grandfather was also a physician, but he graduated from a school offering the Osteopathic studies and was awarded a DO (doctor of osteopathic medicine) degree.

In the United States, both an MD and a DO are licensed medical practitioners, and can diagnose and perscribe medication.
The Allopathic schools awarding the MD are by far more popular, and we study "traditional" medicine. Osteopathic schools tend to focus more on the way the body is put together and the impact that has on treatment of disease.
