What are the symptoms to osteoporosis?

my doctor has also given me a blood test for a vitiman d defishensy so if at all possible I would like to know if this would be related to the symptoms for osteoporosis. Or would that be something totally another direction of health care?

Vitamin D is necessary for the absorption of calcium. Your body can make it's own Vitamin D if you live in an area that has direct sunlight as your body uses sunlight to make vitamin D. Vitamin D is also in most enriched foods.

Symtoms of osteoporsis include spongelike bone structures which show up on x-rays, low bone density scores, frequent small fractures(often going undiagnosed) and shortening in height (the spine will actually curl). Osteoporosis is also indicated when too high of a protein diet is followed, as ecxess protein will cause the kidneys to excrete more calcium. Being small in stature, being white or Asian, age over 50, and being of average or low weight are also risk factors (the incidence of osteoporosis is highest with the aforementioned).

Osteoporosis doesn't have any symptoms until it's really advanced. Vitamin D deficiency can be a CAUSE of osteoporosis, since it helps your body absorb calcium.

A lot of people have Vit. D deficiency and it's easy to treat.

There really aren't symptoms for osteoporosis unless you've had it a long time.

Generally they can run tests to see if you have low vitamin D. But really the only way to know how your bone density is, is to do a bone density scan.
