Osteoporosis tests? |
The doctor does not reccomend this for me because I am not yet 50. I am asian, petite, and do not do regular exercise. He said that he does not reccomend this test at this time because of my low risk factors and thus it is not worth the radiation to do this test. Is this true? Is radiation a huge problem associated with tests for osteoporosis? I know that osteoporosis is very bad if you wait too long to slow down the process of bone loss. How are the tests done? Is it really NOT reccomended? If your doctor feels that you are in the low risk category, then I would accept that. I had a test done only because I was using a medication that can cause a reduction in bone density as well as improper eating habits when I was younger. It was important for me to take it at the time as I am listed on the non-related bone marrow registry. I wanted to ensure that I would be the best candidate possible and if matched, could undergo surgery safely. |
