What about osteoporoiss? It is otherwise called brittle bone disease. It happens as a result of the calcium shedding from bone and adhering to arterial walls causing hardening of the arteries for many sufferers. There are a few drugs out today that can reduce and some even can reverse bone loss, like Fosamax. Many people die each year due to hip fractures associated with osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis is a disease of bone in which bone mineral density (BMD) is reduced, bone microarchitecture is disrupted, and the amount and variety of non-collagenous proteins in bone is changed
-2.5 standard deviations from the mean bone density.

Woman most likely to get it
Postmenopausal increases risk
Need to build up bones before age 30
Make sure you have enough Calcium and Vit. D
Decrease Caffeine
Avoid steroids if at all possible
Risks include family history, smoking, etc..
Stop smoking
Medicines available to slow or reverse...
