I was diagnosed with Osteopina & Osteoporosis now what?

I was given the tests reults and I have Osteopina of the Hip and Osteoporosis of the Spine and was told I am at a danger zone . Is there any kind of exercise or anything i can do. I have been put on a regiment of Flosomax, Vitamin D, & (Calcium 500 mg 3x a day) what more can I do. The DR said to walk which I do but when I do my hip burns like crazy, is this a sign of something going bad already.

Some studies have shown that bone mass will decrease when exercise training stops. Therefore, for an exercise program to help maintain healthy bones it needs to be continued. It is important for you to consult your doctor prior to beginning any exercise program. He/she will be able to prescribe the right exercises for you.

Here is a great information only site that talks about exercises you can do with Osteoporosis:

try tai chi.
Do you also have arthritis, perhaps? That could be a cause of the burning feeling. Walking helps.
I have what you have, and walking works well for me, but weight-bearing exercises (like weight-lifting) is also very helpful. It strengthens your bones. Of course, only do this if you doc says it's okay. If you just sit around and do nor exercise it will only get worse not better. Good Luck.
i'm sorry i can't help you with the types of exercises that you can do, or answer your questions on the pain of medication. But what i can suggest is that you raise awarness about Osteoporosis, it effects so many women not just middle aged women either so more needs to be to done to get funding for treatment and possibly a cure. Talk you your friends and talk to them about the signs and spread awarness.
I have that too..don't try to lift some weights because your bones are still brittle so you are prone to fractures. Walking is the best. My medication is just calcium supplement with vitamin D. Before, I had lower back pain because my bones are brittle. After 3 months of taking the calcium, my lower back pain disappeared. Just continue your supplements. Women are really prone to osteopenia and osteoporosis.
Since I was dianosed over 5 years ago I have been taking calcium (suggest liquid form to increase absorption, it is also inexpensive at Cotsco or online) and Fosamax +D. Also watch your weight and be careful when you walk, I already broke by tibia when I twisted my ankle. Be careful when taking stairs and wear sensible shoes.
