Does anyone know a good alternative medicine to stem the poss onset of osteoporosis? 1) Quit drinking ALL sodas. Cold turkey. PERIOD. 2) Stop smoking and drinking alcohol immediately. 3) Stop consuming foods in the family Solanaceae, ie eggplants, tomatoes, potatoes, pepper, zucchini, hot peppers. These ALL disturb calcium balance and uptake, especially if consumed w/out dairy in the dish. When horses and cows are put in a field containing Datura or Jimsonweed, they become severely crippled. Datura and Jimsonweed (and tobacco, too) are all a part of this botanic family. 4) Engage in weight bearing exercise. 5) Eat greens every single day of your life. 6) Incorporate all the other solutions mentioned before, especially the sunlight exposure to the skin and thymus into your lifestyle and life plan. 7) Stop drinking coffee if this is affecting your calcium balance. 8) Engage in a lymphatic drainage massage at least once a month, and eat seaweed and herbs to rebalance and heal the endocrine system. 9) Recognise white sugar for the toxic poison it is and compleltely stop eating it, realizing that you will have intense cravings for that to which you are most allergic as your body discharges the need/addiction for the substance. White sugar is more addictive than both heroin and nicotine and don't think food manufacturers do not know this. 10) Never take steroids again in your life, especially if you are blond or red-headed, blue or green-eyed and small in stature, or if you have been diagnosed with osteopenia. This precludes using even something as simple as prednisone ointment topically. Steroids destroy the body's calcium balance and calcium uptake mechanisms. Osteoporosis can be caused by steroid use alone. Don't take it. 11) Again, eat seaweeds! There is no better, more bioavailable source of minerals in the world than seaweeds. Daily consumption of seaweed alone can rebalance the endocrine system and heal glandular and mineral uptake disorders. this is not an alternative medicine- but growing up all i ever heard from my mom was "drink lots of milk, its good for your bones!" Calcium is the common answer for any bone health issues.... but that's really just the first step. In order for your body to readily absorb Calcium, you should take something with it to help the absorption. The most common things for better absorption of Calcium is Vitamin D, Magnesium, Vitamin K, and Boron... but the other things that also help are a much longer list. There's Zinc, Copper, Manganese, Ipriflavone, Soy Germ, Silica, Strontium, and some of the general vitamins (A, C, E, and the B vitamins). I'm a Product Specialist for a vitamin company I would suggest you go to your local certified herbalist. They will be able to give you professional advise. Calcium, Vit D and Vit K supplements. Also a good 15 mins of sun exposure. Not much else I'm aware of. An excellent product would have a wide combination of ingredients. Vitamin World makes a product called "Bone Reinforcer." Or ask the store manager or owner for their best product. Up to 2,000 IU's of Vitamin D, 10-15 minutes of sunshine and weightlifting can also be highly beneficial. The best to you. Kelley |
