| *Women health>>>Ovarian Cancer |
I have been diagnosed with Ovarian cancer and I don't have insurance. How do I pay for treatments? |
I am only 22 and I don't have any children. I do not qualify for Medicaid. Actually you do qualify for Medicaid provided you don't have a high income level. . . BUT you have to apply for Women's Health Medicaid which is NOT the same as normal Medicaid and it's kind of a pain in the butt to navigate. Talk to the social worker at your hospital. you may try going to your Medicaid office they will be able to assist you Get medicaid insurance. Some thing like Metro Plus I think is through Medicaid. Also let your Dr. know he may be able to tell you where to get assistance. There's probably some Ovarian Cancer society that will be able to help you and support you emotionally as well. Good Luck! Sorry to hear your diagnosis! I know this is a really difficult time , but there is help for you. I got hold of American Cancer Society ( 800-227-2324 ) , they were so helpful. They have information on want is out there and how to contact the different gruops, that meant alot to me - i was so confused and felt helpless. I don't have insurance either, but I have been getting treatment for over a year. My prayers are with you , GOD BLESS Angie...I'm sorry to hear of your difficult diagnosis. Perhaps you could get online and look for an experimental treatment program at one of the teaching schools. There is a good cancer hospital in TX, isn't there? Remember that what is now standard treatment for many diseases began as experimental treatments. Sometimes experimental programs offer an opportunity to get in on some cutting edge treatments that are not available to a general population. And I'm not intending to sound harsh, but if you are dependent free and there is no one cosigning on your hospitals bills, I say sign whatever they need. Better to be bankrupt and alive than to not receive the timely treatment that you need. |
