Do you get a fat belly if you have ovarian cancer? |
Do you get a fat belly if you have ovarian cancer? It depends on where the ovarian cancer cells migrate to, if they do at all. My girlfriend's case led to lymph node metastasis and peritoneal lesions which has now progressed to liver involvement. This has most recently lead to the formation of protein-rich fluid (ascites) accumulating in her abdomen. In the past two weeks she has had 5.5 liters of fluid drained. In 4 days time she went from thin to looking 7 months pregnant. As far as gaining increased "fat" from the cancer, it is likely that the opposite is true. Absent the ascites, it is far more difficult to keep weight on in our experience. Unfortunately, that's one of symptoms many women with ovarian cancer have that is usually attributed to some other disease. Ovarian cancer is very incidious and most of the time, is not diagnosed until the disease is in its late stages. Abdominal swelling is only one symptom of ovarian cancer...other symptoms usually are pain, decreased appetite, weakness, abnormal bleeding. well there are no reason to believe that you can get a fat belly if you have ovarian cancer. I have seen many victim of ovarian cancer with normal belly. check out this site for more information on ovarian cancer. |
