Do you become bloated when you have stomach or ovarian cancer? Yes you can become bloated with both, but not everyone does. It can also be caused for a number of other reasons. The bloating is most often caused by protein-rich fluid that "leaks" from the vessels in the body. Ovarian cancer can cause this fluid (ascites), as can a liver that is damaged from cirrhosis. They are treated differently The ascites from cirrhosis can often be reduced by diuretics and drugs that reduce portal pressure in the veins of the body. Malignant ascites often can only be helped by certain chemos and new drugs such as Avastin. Otherwise they need abdominal draining (paracentesis) to remove the fluid. Certainly a tumour would make you bloated. It might be a PMS-related bloating. Or it might be gas. I would get it checked just to be on the safe side. |
