Ovarian Cancer? For those who have experienced, have or known someone who has had.? |
Did you have any symptoms before your diagnosis? What prompted you to be checked? I am sure that it is nothing and just cysts. But.....a few years ago I had an abnormal pap when I was pregnant and it showed pre-cancerous cells, I also tested positive for HPV. The doctor did not want to do further testing because I was pregnant. I never followed up. My paps since have been normal. I have had ovarian cyst problems in the past. What I have been experiencing is weight gain in the last month with no extra eating, tenderness in my ovary areas, bloated stomach(I look pregnant but am not) My periods have been irregualar lately ( late then super heavy, then on time and way to short and light) cramping when no period is there. I feel weak, and very tired. I am not sure what is up but I have an appt with the gyno next month. My mom also has a Hx of pre-cancerous cells on the cervix. my mom in law .symptoms-constantly having to pee.a lot of abdominal swelling.gas-a lot.not being able to eat.initial weight gain without extra eating, then weight loss without trying.small apetite.unusual bleeding.if u suspect u have these symptoms,a transvaginal ultrasound can tell if there is something abnormal about ur ovaries.but dont panic yet.i had all these same symptoms,i was very upset.and i did have an enlarged right ovary with cysts that looked suspicious.i had a laparoscopy operation 3 weeks ago,it turned out to be cysts/problems from endometriosis, not cancer.i was very lucky.a lot of abdominal area problems have similar symptoms,so dont panic.but do ask ur dr about ur symptoms and request an ultrasound.u can also take the ca125 blood test, but the ultrasound is actually better, the ca125 is unfortunately not the most accurate test, tho dr's are working on it.dont panic, but do see a dr.good luck.the problem with ovarian cancer is,the symptoms at first seem similar to irritable bowel syndrome-gas,bloatingetc.so the dr may take awhile to realise there is more to it.when in doubt, ask for that ultrsound!if my problem had been cancer, not just endometrioma cysts,it would have been caught at an early stage because i got an ultrasound, and the dr said-we need to remove that !!!! i had those symptoms,it was cysts.so,dont worry too much,it sounds like cysts.i kno how scary it can be,best wishes from me ! Report It That's the problem with ovarian cancer, the symptoms many women have can be attributed to other problems. Any abdominal bloating, change in appetite, diarrhea, abnormal bleeding, a sore that won't heal are generally the symptoms that women initially come in to see the physician for. My Mom's neighbor just died from it, she was our neighbor for 10 years, it's sad because she was diagnosed way too late. The earier they catch it the better. I did not have any symptoms...I found out from my regular pap....I was very lucky as it was diagnosed in early stages |
