Are there signs of Ovarian Cancer?

Like lower abdomen pain. I'm 15 and I saw a commercial that said that abdomen pain could be a sign of Ovarian Cancer. Help. How should I tell my mom I want to go get checked for this. She isn't the most understanding person. She would rather me burn money than spend it. What should I do? It's not mensturation. She I get seen about this. I've been feeling really weird lately.

My grandma has cancer. I'm not sure what kind. My dad died from pancreas cancer a year in a half ago. I'll try talking to her.

It may not be necessarily cancer. It is quite common to have abdominal pain in girls of your age at the time of periods. You can not figure out the difference of menustural pain from other pains. In my opinion in course of time you should be alright and need not worry about cancer now.

However in view of your family history you should be careful and be aware of the signs and symptoms of Ovarian Cancer, which are given below-

Symptoms of ovarian cancer are nonspecific and mimic those of many other more common conditions, including digestive and bladder disorders. It isn't unusual for a woman with ovarian cancer to be diagnosed with another condition before finally learning she has cancer. The key seems to be persistent or worsening signs and symptoms. With most digestive disorders, symptoms tend to come and go, or they occur in certain situations or after eating certain foods. With ovarian cancer, there's typically little fluctuation 鈥?symptoms are constant and gradually worsen.

Recent studies have shown that women with ovarian cancer are more likely than are other women to consistently experience the following symptoms:

* Abdominal pressure, fullness, swelling or bloating
* Urinary urgency
* Pelvic discomfort or pain

Additional signs and symptoms that women with ovarian cancer may experience include:

* Persistent indigestion, gas or nausea
* Unexplained changes in bowel habits, including diarrhea or constipation
* Changes in bladder habits, including a frequent need to urinate
* Loss of appetite
* Unexplained weight loss or gain
* Increased abdominal girth or clothes fitting tighter around your waist
* Pain during intercourse (dyspareunia)
* A persistent lack of energy
* Low back pain

Doctors can usually diagnose ovarian cancer within three months of women first noticing symptoms, but sometimes it may take six months or longer before a diagnosis can be made.

There is nothing wrong to have a opinion of a doctor and please tell your mother suitably and have a check up once. Wish best of luck. -

Yes there are signs. (constipation, bloating, bleeding). Check the WebMD site. At 15 yrs old I don't think you need to worry unless your mom and/or grandmother(s) have had it. Check your family history. If you are still worried, just tell your mom that you think you need to see your doctor. I am a mom and if my daughter told me she needed to go to the doctor to get checked out on something that was worrying her I would take her. How about your dad? Can you talk to him? I'm sure your mom wants you to be healthy. If money is the problem, go to the local health department.

Just because you have abd. pain doesn't necessarily indicate you have cancer. Could be lots of things--there's a lot of parts down there. You should be seen by a gynecologist anyway to get everything checked out. Since you have a family history of cancer you should start now and have regular check ups yearly.

Tell her you're having symptoms and are worried that it might be something serious. The doctor could do a pelvic ultrasound to see if anything abnormal shows up.
