What are the details of ovarian cancer diagnosis?

My girlfriend admitted herself to a hospital not long ago and the doctors there, according to her, claim that she may be suffering from ovarian cancer. Is it possible to hypothesize this so quickly, and if so, how long do you figure it would take to get through all the tests to properly diagnose this case?

I don't know much about ovarian cancer, at all, so I would like it if someone provided me a lay man's low-down on what it's all about, please. I'm really concerned about my girlfriend and I want to know, if she does live to see through this, if she'll be in and out of a hospital for the rest of her life.

Thanks to everyone very much.

Since you asked this question 4 days ago they should know if it is ovarian cancer by now and she should be scheduled for surgery if it is. This cancer is not often caught early, but I hope she is one of the lucky ones. Prognosis depends on the stage and grade of the disease, which you should know after surgery. About 65% of ovarian cancers ate a stage 3 at diagnosis and has a 5-year survival rate of 30%. I don鈥檛 want to give you more information than you need right now. If she has an early stage cancer and gets though this it is not likely she will be in and out of the hospital the rest of her life. If you have more questions after the surgery ask then and be sure to include the stage, her age and if she is premenopausal . I just said a little prayer. I hope it helps.

Hi Just wanted to suggest a lengthy site of information about this topic I will check it out good luck!
