How can people be saved from Ovarian cancer?

As the symptoms are pretty mcuh identical to Irritable bowel syndrome, surely anyone who has it would be dismissed as having IBS instead until the cancer has developed too far? Especially withitn the younger population. :S

There's pelvic pain, pressure and fullness, abdominal bloating, change in urinary habits and bowel habits that continue to worsen.

Symptoms of IBS may include crampy pain, bloating, gas, mucus in the stool, and changes in bowel habits. Some people with IBS have constipation鈥攊nfrequent stools that may be hard, dry and painful. Others have diarrhea鈥攆requent loose stools. Some people having alternating constipation and diarrhea. Sometimes a person with IBS has a crampy urge to move the bowels but cannot do so.

Not quite the same.

Younger population? Most ovarian cancers occur in people over 60.

Almost all researchers now believe that development of cancer is not an event but rather a multistage process that takes years or decades to develop. More and more researchers are beginning to realize that this repeated damage to the DNA by excessive "free radicals that causes oxidative stess" over 10 to 20 years that in fact may be the root cause of all cancers.
A free radical is a molecule with unpaired electrons in its outer shell. It is highly reactive, and will 鈥渞ob鈥?a neighboring molecule of its electron, which in turn becomes a free radical 鈥?setting off a chain reaction of destruction called oxidative stress.
Free radicals come not only from pollution and toxins from the outside, but are also generated by our cells during the process of burning food for energy. What we put into our mouth matters most. So a healthy lifestyle is a practical way of avoiding them.
What we need are Antioxidants to protect our cells. Antioxidants donate electrons to free radicals, but do not become free radicals as a result. Hence they stop the chain reaction of destruction.
We should get a significant amount of antioxidants from our food and antioxidant rich supplement. The more the antioxidants in our body, the less damage free radicals cause.

Get a transvaginal ultrasound done if you have a family history. See your OB/Gyn at 6 month intervals for a complete pelvic bi manual exam and when you are done having your children, think seriously about having your ovaries removed prophalactically .

It is so important to know your body-pay closer attention and have yearly check-ups. It pays to always ask questions no matter how
unimportant they seem to be.

Ovarian cancer is called the silent killer as it's pretty much symptomless until it's too late.

A doctor can push her fingers deep into the abdomen of a woman to see if any mass can be felt, but this will not work for women who are very overweight.
Ultrasound can be used.
