Can a baby be born healthy if mother has ovarian cancer?

Can a baby be born healthy if mother has ovarian cancer?

If the mother does not have any treatments, such as chemo or radiation, then the baby can technically be born healthy, but complications are likely to occur, causing miscarriage.

The placenta forms a barrier in which only gases and nutrients can pass form mother to child. So cancerous cells cannot enter the baby's body. However ovarian cancer can mess up the hormonal control needed to maintain a pregnancy and a miscarriage can occur.

Now if you meant the woman had ovarian cancer then she could still become pregnant but it gets complicated. If she needed to have her ovaries removed then most likely she would have had the option of freezing some of her eggs (if there were not cancerous). The eggs would then need to be fertilized in vitro, then implanted into the uterus. The woman would have to be taking artificial hormones to develop and maintain the uterine lining and support the pregnancy.

wouldn't they have had an hysterectomy
