Ovarian cancer survival? |
My friend is 24 and has ovarian cancer. Is it passed down in her family and her mother survived it. I was wondering if this cancer has poor survival chances. I'm so worried about her. Can someone give me some input about this. thanks I was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer last year. They couldn't determine if it was Stage 2A or if I had Stage 1C ovarian along with 1C endometrial. I was since diagnosed with stage 3A endometrial and have finished all my treatment and have a great prognosis. Survival rate depends on the stage of cancer but having it at a young age means she is less likely to have complications from surgery and treatment than an older person. Chances for survival are very good if it is caught in Stage I. Only 10% of ovarian cancer cases have a family history. Check it out on the Internet. Ovarian Cancer has a poor survival rate because by the time you see symptoms, it is usually quite advanced. Sometimes, they find it by accident (looking for something else). Hopefully, surgery will be successful for your friend. Wow! So sorry to hear that especially since she is so young. Her survival chances depend on the stage or spread of the disease. If it was caught very early and there are no lymph nodes that were positive her chances are best. However, because she is so young this type of ca is very agressive and needs some very agressive therapy. On a positive note, my Aunt had ovarian ca and outlived every Dr.s prediction so you never know! I'll keep her in my prayers. Tell her about glyconutrients and the cancer testimonials on my page. |
