If you're around 40 or 50, it's better to have it removed because of the risk for cancer. Besides, menopause strikes women around that age, when ovaries begin to lose its reproductive function. Consequences of having your ovaries removed include hot flushes, mood swings, dry skin. There are Hormone Replacement Therapies (HRT) to avoid these symptoms. However, HRT carries a risk for breast cancer. It is best that you discuss treatment and management strategies with your doctor. |
