How do you make the ovarian cancer diagnosis?

Ovarian cancer is a difficult diagnosis. There is a CA-125 marker that can be used and is diagnostic for some women, but must be combined with other info like ultrasound, and mostly vague symptoms like abdominal bloating, bowel changes, etc. Pap smears do NOT help diagnose OvCa. This is a silent cancer and hard to diagnose. Best confirmed by biopsy. If surgery is recommended it is best to see a gyn oncologist for the BEST surgery/biopsy - not a general Gyn surgeon. Staging the disease is critical for the best treatment and your survival. Much can be lost or missed with the initial surgery if the wrong surgery is performed.
