How long does the treatment for ovarian cancer normally take?

i just want to know what is the normal time of a treatment...months, years?

I know its not what your looking for, but there is no definitive answer, depends upon how widespread the cancer is when diagnosed (the cancer stage), as well as the type and grade of cancer. Only a doctor would be able to diagnose that, I'm sorry but its the truth.
Ovarian Cancer treatment like any cancer will be variable depending on stage and grade. First round chemo will usually be 6 or 8 rounds - 3 weeks apart. This usually is after you have recovered from the initial debulking surgical procedure. It is VERY important that this be done by a gyn oncologist. (Not just a gynecologist for the best procedure/best prognosis.) Depending on how the woman does with chemo, many times it is months or years before any more chemo is done - if ever. If caught early, and you respond well, it may just be the only time you ever need chemo.

If you are lucky, you will have 6 treatments, 3 weeks apart, of chemotherapy, before or after surgery. Some ovarian cancer patients, if the tumor is large, have chemo to shrink the tumor and then chemo. I had ovarian cancer in 2005 and had a hysterectomy, followed by 6 chemo treatments, starting 6 weeks after surgery. My surgery was in March and I was finished with chemo in mid-September. This was a best-case scenario but, because ovarian cancer tends to recur, I see my oncologist every 4 months, have a bloodtest to check my CA125 markers before each visit and a CTscan probably twice a year. If I continue without recurrence, the time between visits will be gradually lengthened.
1) surgery for organ removal
2) pathology report to determine at which stage the cancer was found and removed
3) possibly HRT - hormone replacement therapy - for the immediate menopausal symptoms
4) the oncologist surgeon and the oncologist are the best to determine the length of time for subsequent treatment - usally chemo and its duration
5) each case is different, there are no hard and fast follow these rules to follow
6) fequent CA125 lab works to be sure the marker is falling - but not all ovarian cancers will show with a CA125 blood test.
7) annual mri or cat of the abdomen to check for recurrance
in ten days, I will be ovarian cancer free for 10 years. it can be done.
Usually, there are 6 to 8 chemo treatments (first line, normally carboplatin alone or in combination with paclitaxel), in 20 days intervals. So about 5 to 6 months. But before each treatment, there should be a blood test to measure the ovarian cancer marker (CA125, if it is expressed in your case). If this marker goes under a specified threshold, the treatments are stopped are you are considered in remission.
