Do you know anyone who has had or has ovarian cancer? Have they survived? Absolutely, I have had Breast cancer and whilst on this awful journey I have met many many survivors of ovarian cancer....unfortunately this disease does go undetected for some time before you are alerted to any serious problem as symptoms are so vague, that is why you tend to see statistics stating a high mortality rate, but with new treatments lots are surviving. One lady i met was a 20 year survivor...so never ever think it is a death sentence... Yes, my mother had ovarian cancer 25 years ago, it was caught in the early stages, she had a hysterectomy and both her ovaries removed plus radiation treatment. She is very much alive and has just retired to a Greek Island with my father. Unfortunately I lost touch with her during the 3rd bout because of a very deeply personal issue which divided us. That was almost 10 years ago and I haven't been able to find any news of her since then. I fear the worst and hesitate to contact former mutual friends to find out for sure. Sorry to hear about your Mum, mu Mum has had Breast Cancer 4 times and Cervical Cancer twice, I know it's not the same and my mum was alot younger, but as long as the doctor's have caught it early enough and she responds well to treatment, she should be able to recover, but nothing is set in stone. Keep your chin up and remember no matter how bad your feeling, your Mum is probably feeling 100 times worse, look after her. Good Luck xxx It really depends on the severity.
