I'm in my early 20s and i had ovarian cyst. so, is it possible to get ovarian cancer in the future? Ovarian cysts and ovarian cancer are not related. Some ovarian cancers can have cystic components to them, but a history of an ovarian cyst does not increase your risk. Ovarian cysts are very common. Most women experience them from time to time. When a woman ovulated, a follicles develop on the ovaries. Normal after ovulation the follicles involute (disappear) until the next cycle. In come case they follicle will persist developing into cyst. If the cyst become large, or hemorrhage (bleed) they can become quite painful. Not if you look after yourself. I UNDERSTAND - I'VE STRUGGLED FOR 10 YEARS WITH OVARIAN CYSTS - AND I KEEP GOING TO THE DOCTOR TO CHECK THEM OUT - THEYCAN USUALLY TELL IF THEY'RE SAFE BY THE CLEAR FLUID THAT GETS SEEN ON AN ULTRASOUND. JUST MAKE SURE YOU SEE A DOCTOR REGULARLY AND HAVE IT MONITORED - AND IF IT GET BIGGER OR STARTS TO HURT ANYMORE MAKE SURE IT'S LOOKED AT... My mother died of Ovarian Cancer, and we've been forced to learn alot about this disease. It hits women of all ages, and Doctors often miss this so stay on top of this with your Dr. If the Cyst doesn't go away, demand on having it taken out and a biopsy taken. You are the one responsible for your health. You know your body best. Now adays Doctors are too busy to sit down with you and disucss every little issue so take charge and be heard. Ovarian Cysts are not a symptom of Ovarian cancer, but only a Dr can tell you that for sure, like the OB GYN Oncologist told us. As a first relative all females in our family are recommended to have a yearly trans vaginal ultrasound for comparison from year to year. Visit www.ovariancancer.org. It's very hard to detect, and not usually caught until symptoms appear (in the late stage of the disease). There's no need to worry about it because for some ovarian cysts, are frequent and common, but don't let it go, stay on top of it. |
