How scared should I be about a abnormal PAP test? I have breast cancer/sister died of ovarian cancer? |
I was diagnosed with breast cancer 2005.Had surgery, chemo and radiation and even ovories and fallopian tubes removed because of my dear sisters death of ovarian cancer in 2000. I'm sure if you are getting your pap test done every year you have nothing to worry about. I had abnormal paps for 9 years before mine came close to cervical cancer. The Dr will want to repeat often & probably want to use a Thin Prep Pap Test which is more accurate & can pinpoint better what exactly is abnormal within the cells. Don't worry, your Dr will watch out for you. Just make sure to keep an eye on it. Good luck! I wouldnt work myself up over it, I had an abnormal PAP a few years ago and all i ended having to have done was cryo surgery, which wasnt a big deal. Good Luck. God Bless You. Enough to live! Get treatment, if necessary. i'm a guy, and no expert, but my former wife had an abnormal result once, and in her case, it ended up meaning nothing. so, don't get upset until you talk with your doctor. I have had an abnormal PAP, 6 months later all was clear, could be bacterial or any number of things. My mom has breast cancer, my Aunt ovarian, and my grandmother breast cancer as well, I was fine. Definitely follow up, but don't stress yourself out unnecessarily Pray... I can understand your nerves. It may not be in your genes. Sometimes genes will skip and one child may have them stronger than the other. A lot of times when PAPs turn up abnormal, it is not cancer, there just may be something else that triggered the abnormal result. That happened to my mother. She is just fine. Hang in there and I wish you the very best. :) Try not to worry too much |
