Dog with possible overactive bladder? |
We have a 2 yr. old St. Bernard. She is house trained and has not peed in the house in at least 1 yr & 6months. She sleeps in the house noramally we let her out to go to the bathroom around 10pm & I let her out when I get up at 6:30am. However last night she wined at 4am on the way to go outside she stopped right at the door and peed in the house! I put outside for awhile and then put her to bed until I woke up at 6:30 as soon as she heard my alarm she started whining. This time she didn't make as far as the door and peed in the middle of the floor. What is going on with her! She seems pretty healthy, however we feed her some human food as treats such as crackers with cream cheese, hot dogs. Please help! I concur... It could be a bladder infection. She may have a bladder infection. Take her to the vet to check it before it gets worse. It could be an infection, but it could also be bladder stones. When my dog got them she could hold it and would go all over the place. According to my vet when I asked him why she got bladder stones, he said some dogs just did that it wasn't anything I had or hadn't done. You should take you dog to the vet for an exam. Poor thing! I'll agree with bladder infection. If you notice that she's drinking a lot and peeing a lot you may want to have her screened for diabetes. "Overactive bladder" sounds unlikely, especially if she is normally good about not going in the house and this is a sudden change. A bladder infection on the other hand is a very real probability. Females are more prone to bladder infections than males and a sever infection could cause her to be unable to hold her bladder. Crackers, cream cheese, and hot dogs, while fed in large amounts could cause health problems (primarily pancreatits), are not going to cause urinary tract issues. |
