how do you know if you have an overactive bladder and what could having an overactive bladder afect?

Overactive bladder (OAB) is the need to urinate frequently and/or the urge to urinate frequently. The best advice I can give you is talk to your doctor. I myself suffer from OAB. I've been given a prescription called "Detrol". It doesn't really help me much, but it may help you.

There are numerous treatments out there. Do yourself a favor : don't experiment with online remedies. Talk to your doctor & get a prescription.

Worst case scenario, you buy some protective undergarments. It may not sound nice, but what I'm trying to say here is that you do have options.

You tend to go to the bathroom more than you usually do. Maybe 5+ times a day.
