Overactive bladder? I'm only 26!!!?

Ok.. I'm doing Weight Watchers which requires six 8 oz servings of water daily. I try and spread out the water, but I swear I pee all the time. I've been doing this diet for 3 months now.. I don't understand why my bladder hasn't caught up... now sometimes it feels like pee might leak out when I'm just sitting there. I have never actually peed myself, but sometimes I swear it could happen. Then sometimes I don't have to pee at all and it suddenly hits me and I literally have to speed walk to the bathroom or I feel like I could pee myself. What is going on??? I stopped drinking diet coke which sorta helped, but I'm really worried. I'm only 26. I mentioned to my OB/Gyn last time this happened and she said it was my kegel muscles... I don't know if I believe that. Any ideas? It's embarassing!

Recently it has been reported that there is no medical research (proof) out there that we need to drink that much in 1 day. I have an issue sort of like yours, my bladder can only hold around 150ml (a normal bladder can hold up to 600ml). I drink around 1400ml a day and i have managed to lose weight.

An average person only urinates around 1500ml a day, so why would you want to drink 2000ml a day?? You are seeing the wrong specialist about your bladder issue, you need to get a referral to a urologist. They specialize in bladder conditions like overactive bladder and small bladder volume capacity. I also suggest drinking a little less.

Stay away from acidic drinks and drinks/ foods containing caffeine as they have a diuretic effect (it stops your brain from releasing a special hormone called ADH (anti-diuretic hormone) that helps you body retain water, hence it makes you pee heaps!)

I hate going to the toilet every hour or so. Sometimes i have to go every 20 minutes. This is how i manage my problem.

Hey, im 17 with the same thing! :/

Since you mentioned you were on weight watchers, is it safe to assume that prior you did little to no exercise?

If yes, it is probably becuase you have weak kegel muscles. Strengthening these muscles help control bladder and enhances sexual experience ;) So don't be embarassed, it's worth doing. Find some good exercises off the net or in a Cosmo magazine.
