I went to see a pain management for the first time and he made me feel?

so uncomfortable, he asked me to put a gown on and i did, he opened up my gown in the back and started checking my back problems then he made me do things like exercise with my gown open i was so embaress, i just don't know if this is how it suppose to be when you go to pain management?

i see. he was more interseted if i was going to have the shots or not and am scare of needles and being it was my first visit he made me feel uncomfortable.

Yes, sometimes it can be such as if someone is going for help with back pain. It can be easier to find the areas of pain by having the gown on than thru regular clothes.

But each Pain Management doctor is different as well. When I went to a Pain Management doctor for the very first time I had to put on a gown to make it easier for the doctor to examine my shoulder to find out where I was hurting.

With my second time to a Pain Management doctor (the doctor I have now) I didn't get undressed for the first visit to evaluate the problem I went to her for.

She just asked me some questions about the pain and we talked a bit more and then started to come up with a treatment plan.

dammit I knew I should've been a doctor

If the doctor made you feel that uncomfortable,go to another pain management doctor. Also start doing the buddy system where you do not see any doctor without a friend, boyfriend, mom,or just someone you feel comfortable to take with you in the room at the doctor's office. If you feel in anyway that doctor got off sexually turn him in.In the phone book under government you can make a complaint at what he had you do.I see a pain manag.Dr.every month and have since 1998.I have never had a Dr. have me do something like that and i have had 6 surgeries on my neck and lower back. be careful. lots of prayers for you.

i go to a pain mangmnt dr also, never did th hokey pokey with an open gown. there are suckers they can give you prior to injections tht will totally make you forget your getting a shot so there would be other people present anesthiologist, be sure you totally understand his approach to your pain, time involved and dependency issues to meds if prescribed this is serious stuff...4 yrs 4me and fused tail bone..i have had 3 different drs during these years alll different approachs to managing my pain
