Pain management clinic?

Ok so I have asked questions. I have mild scholosis, mild spandylosil, par defect, had muscle damage and continue back pain from a car accident in 2004. Hurt myself on 2-9-08 at work. Nothing really showed up in my mri except for a pars defect which I was told is a birth defect. They aren't sure where the pain is coming from but the last doctor I saw told me I am too young to be going thru pain and to get over it.

I hurt and can't get much sleep, it takes all I have to go into work and do my job and not show I am in pain, I can't go to the gym anymore cause the more and more I do the more and more I hurt.

I called and scheduled an appointment with a pain management clinic and it's this week. They didn't ask me for anything but to bring my prescription bottles and my id and my insurance card. They didn't really seem interested in me bringing my mri or x-rays. So I have never been to one and I was kinda wondering what to expect.

They will check you in, talk to you, and their main function is prescribing controlled drugs. They will give shots to the area in question, but will more than likely refer you to another Doctor specializing in your problems. I would take the MRI and x-rays with you anyway, even though they did not ask. If the Pain Center is located in the hospital where you have had all your tests and whatever else, they will have immediate access to them. Where I live, it is in the same hospital. Pain Management is exactly what they are, manage pain medications and increase them or decrease them as time goes by and either you improve or worsen. Also sounds like you need another opinion from an upstanding Physician. Best to you sir. Nothing worse than living in pain, I know because my wife lives with it.

Usually they will order their own tests, which may involve nerve conduction studies and radiologic tests to be read by their preferred radiologist.
Shame on that doctor for not taking your complaints seriously and blowing you off the way he did. I'd NEVER go back to him, and I'd warn anyone who will listen. A sympathetic doctor is worth their weight in gold.
The pain is clearly impairing your function. I'm sure the pain clinic is a wise step.
So much for the joys of workmen's comp.
