Has anyone attended Hope Hospitals Pain Management Clinic and what do they do"?

If anyone has attended, did you have to stay in hospital. Can it be done on a day patient basis and did it help you deal with your pain?

I have done the pain management programme at Halifax, I also attend the pain clinic there.
My pain clinics works on an out patient appointment system so you go in see the consultant discuss what your pain is and where it is, and they explain the options to you.
I have got a bad back and I get injections in the bottom of my back and then leave the hospital normally 20 mins after the injection. I also get 2 injections into my 12th rib's (one on each side) this is for pain I get from my stomach it blocks the gateway so my brain doesn't feel the pain. The rib injections I only need to get done once a year. I tend to need the lower back ones 3 times a year.
It doesn't get rid of my pain completely but it makes it bearable.
I am also prescribed stronger medication for the pain by the pain clinic.
At our pain clinic the doctors are aneasthetist. They know how to help pain as they have to keep people pain free during operations so I suppose it makes sense that they are the ones that do it.

The pain mangement programme helps you to understand pain, We went to about 7 sessions around 4 hours each sessions. It helped me understand the pain better which sounds daft but it does help. The other thing that helped me was meeting others with similar problems to me and knowing I was not alone.

I am not sure if you want advice about the pain clinic or the pain management programme.

I have put a link in that shows who normally is involved in running the pain mangement programme.

Hope this helps. :) Source(s): http://www.btinternet.com/~thinkback/pai...
